Book 1 of the Moon Base Alpha trilogy

Author: Stuart Gibbs

Twelve-year-old Dash Gibson lives on the moon. His parents are exceptional scientists who were hired to study lunar geology on a three-year mission with their family. Dash discovers that life on Moon Base Alpha is boring, except that “the toilets might as well be medieval torture devices.”
Everything changes when the base physician turns up dead and Dash accidently gets sucked into solving his murder.

Gibbs created a hilarious story set in a fairly accurate scientific world. The only really absurd bit is allowing children to live on the Moon.

The adventure continues Spaced Out and Waste of Space.

Gibbs is also the author of the Spy School series, Funjungle books and Charlie Thorne. I love his wacky sense of humor coupled with real science.
